Jamie Varner picked to replace Terry Etim for UFC on FOX 4

Terry Etim’s bad news turned into another golden opportunity for Jamie Varner.  When Etim was injured and forced out of his fight with Joe Lauzon on August 4, Jamie was ready, willing, and able to step up and take the challenge.  Fresh off an impressive return to the octagon in UFC 146, Jamie is ready to take on the always scrappy Lauzon in Los Angeles on the UFC on FOX 4 card.  This is a great chance for Jamie to again showcase his skill and willingness to take all comers.  Good luck Jamie, it’s going to be great!

Gritz Wins Impressively at ShoFIGHT 20

On Saturday, June 16, Chris Gruetzemacher celebrated his birthday in style as he dominated at ShoFIGHT 20 in Springfield, MO.  Gritz ran his professional record  to 11-1 by dominating his opponent, Roli Delgado, a UFC veteran, and winning by vicious ground and pound.  The fight started slowly with a close first round, but Gritz found his stride in round 2 and poured it on his opponent  for the finish in round 3.  We are so proud of Gritz and the amazing dedication he pours  into becoming the best fighter he can possibly be.  Congratulations to the whole MMA LAB Elite Team for producing consistently great performances.  Good work Gritz,  more great things for you on the horizon!

JCBJJ Competition Team wins big at NAGA Phoenix

Big Congratulations go out to our team for winning first in the no gi division, first in the gi division, and first in the overall team competition!

It was a fun day, and everyone did a great job.  Thanks and congrats also go out to Kevin Scott from Phoenix BJJ, and Santino Defranco at Southwest MMA.  It is a real honor to have them on the team and I appreciate everything they do.

The best part of the whole competition experience was not winning, but the true team atmosphere and the family feel we have between our JCBJJ family. Thank you all for being such cool people,  I am enjoying every minute of the ride!

Congratulations!

“Gritz” Ready to take the next step

Chris Gruetzemacher has been training with some of the best lightweights in the world, including Efrain Escudero, Jamie Varner and World Champion Benson Henderson, for a long time. Gritz, who competes in the featherweight division, is ready to take the next step in his fight career.  Currently on a 9 fight win streak, this Strikeforce veteran steps into the ring at ShoFIGHT 20 against UFC veteran Roli Delgado on June 16 in Springfield, MO.  Delgado, a lanky 6′ 2″, is a BJJ Black belt, a seasoned competitor, and represents Gritz’ toughest test to date.

While respecting his opponent’s skills and experience, Gritz feels that this is his time to step up and show what he can do.

We are so proud of Gritz and all of the great effort he has given in his 5 years at the LAB and know that he will do his best next weekend.  Love you Gritz, Do your thing!!!
